Hi ravencroft,

Thanks

I hope that you find all that you need from Merc & always feel free to make suggestions on how to improve the board to better serve the immediate needs of the hobbying community !

You will always get a quick response from either the Admin. or myself on this board.

Congratulations on the new board, it will serve to allow us a second voice to this 'hobby'.

A couple of suggestions: We need a thread about restaurants and another about hotels. In other words... threads about the tools of the trade ;) I know this is a longshot... but a small area here for general and hobby travel information to other cities, such as Toronto or Vancouver, may be nice since SPs and dudes, well, we do have something in common... we travel a lot!!!

Other than that... party on ;)

Just 4.9 KB maximum for an avatar... that is way too little. If the limit in size is bigger, we can put moving .gif avatar!

Yes I agree and will do shortly.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Just 4.9 KB maximum for an avatar...I was wondering the same. Would 10 kbs do?

On another board which shall go nameless it is possible to go to something like "first unread message" in a thread .....it would be nice if this feature were available here......

Whoops... maybe there is away... hit the small blue arrow by the posters name......

Well one positive thing about all this is that **** has FINALLY updated their site with the new version of v-bulletin. Competition makes you try harder...

You guys look like twins now... who's Mary-Kate and who's Ashley ? :p

Exactly! So where's the added-value? What's this board's niche in the market/community? SL has asserted to me (and no doubt to many others) that this board would be managed and moderated out of Montreal instead of Toronto. And why would that be better ? I don't know.

You are absolutely correct, the plan is to have a board that also represents the French culture and to have a truly bilingual board.
That is one of our major goals and French will be added to everywhere as the software allows us and is also practical. Some items are with the translator as we speak.
I assure our French visitors and hobbyists that every effort will be made to encourage bilingual participation.

Thank you for your comments.

The board interface is nice but the topics seem to be nested one level deeper than necessary. It takes more clicks to get to the posts but I guess it allows better organization of the threads.

It would be great if we had a thread on tips and hidden features for using this bulletin version.

Robin,

Have you looked at the FAQ section, there is quite a bit about using the features. Slowly certain features that are not clear or given will be introduced and explained in the "FAQs of interest" section.

EagerBeaver,

Competition is good and the boards are starting to look different... Blue vs Green

I believe due to this board's firsthand involvement in the industry's interests, we should be able to offer something different from the other boards. Time will only tell..... but with so many boards around, it's a natural transgression that a Montreal based forum would emerge.

Thank you for your feedbacks.

Some posters really have cool avatars. Keep it coming!

I know that bandwidth costs alot, therefore I understand the limit in size for avatar. Of course, the bigger the size limit, the better. But 10 KB is a start, 20 KB would be better and 100 KB would be extraordinary..... :)
